Ballet joins Symphony on the epic Asteria stage for the first time!
This February marks a special collaboration. Ballet joins Symphony for the first time in the new Asteria Theatre. Colorado West Performing Arts ballet dancers are joining the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra on stage to perform Igor’s Stravinsky’s Pulcinella. This Marimba Reflections Concert also features a rare marimba concerto performed by percussionist Lee Cantrell of the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra. The program begins with Haydn’s playful Symphony No. 6, highlighting colorful solos that set the tone for a captivating evening. Séjourné’s Concerto for Marimba and Strings follows, showcasing the intricate interplay between percussion and strings, with the vibrant marimba taking center stage. The evening concludes with Stravinsky’s lighthearted Pulcinella Suite, brought to life by CWPAC dancers in a dynamic performance blending music and ballet.
